A beautiful and intriguing photograph. Perfect usage of the 200 mm with a wide aperture. And I like the processing done with these quiet tones for a nice ambiance. Well done!
BTW, if I may -- why not trying to close in even more into the face of the lady? I would try to crop the lower and the right parts, zooming in on the face. Or, maybe, from the other side, cropping both arms and concentrating on the face. Just a thought.
Choosing a winner was not easy, but among all the entries, I kept coming back to this photo that matches the brief spot on. I particularly like the way the subject stares and connects with the photographer while casually smoking his chillum. I am usually not a big fan of positioning the subject right in the center, but it does work very well here.
Great photograph and a well deserved winner in my opinion.
While I found the image a bit dark (too much vignette?), it stayed as one of my favorites. Excellent usage of the wide aperture for a nice and pleasant bokeh. Your subject stands out very well. I found the expression of the ranger a bit tense, even somehow worried by the situation and the photo. But the way he looks at the camera is actually nice. I resent a lot of humanity in this photograph.
(I'm surprised you mentioned noise for a photo taken at ISO 100...)
This one has been a difficult photo for me. I must admit that I wasn't sure if I liked it or if I didn't. But it sure attracted my attention and made me think. No doubt, it's a great portrait, created on the basis of a very interesting idea, and very well captured and executed. Great photographic work! Well done.
Excellent choice of B&W for this stunning portrait. The stare of this elder is so powerful and the shallow DOF works so well to reinforce it.
I'd like to know more about this man. Why is he staring at me like this? Is he puzzled at my presence or angry about something?
A great portrait -- congratulations.
