What really works for this image is the now well known symbol of the Je suis Charlie attack, the Pencil. The moment I saw this image I thought, "that must be from the Je suis Charlie rallies" and the position of the mans hand in a fist is known worldwide as a symbol of fighting back or resisting. Between the position of the hand, the mans hat, and the pencil this really is an iconic image for the days after the attack on Je suis Charlie
Beyond the strange similarity between the drawing and the protester this image carry's a great level of emotion. A lot of protest photography is finding the person in the crowd that could represent the whole movement. I believe this image does that. We can see a crowd behind the subject. The paper and the subject yelling relays the dissatisfaction and the similarity draws the view in. A very well done image.
"There is no beauty without a little strangeness"
I don't know where that quote came from but I have always loved it and it's why I love this image.
The stark contrast between the woman on the left and the heavily armored police on the right is as stunning as it is strange. Her umbrella really tops off this image in a big splash of red and blue. I'd say more but this image really speaks for itself.
Congratulations on such a strong image.

When photographers get enter what can be massive crowds it can be easy to forget the individual humans all taking part. This image successfully captures one individuals experience.
This protester has so much going on starting with the iconic Guy Fawkes mask, the bandana and the stage pig nose. Yet despite all of that we have this great look right into his eyes, every strong image.

This images has some absolutely fantastic framing. The photographer running into frame on the right is caught with such perfect timing. The smoke adds just a little mystery to the scene and is reminiscent of Vietnam war photography. The leg on the ground under the smoke begs the viewer to wonder what's going on just out of frame, in a good way.
The closeness of this image is also a great featuring giving an idea of what it was like to be there.
This images has a lot of depth to it, first grabbing the viewer with the magnitude and action of the horse. Then to the policemen and the crowd behind them. Police horses carry a lot of power in protests with both their size and strength. What this images does well is relate that size as well as capturing a very active moment. The shutter speed allowed for just a small amount of motion blur in the scene that really helps draw the view to the horse.
Congratulations on a very successful image.
