This image captured my attention as soon as I saw it. The "pose" of the hare is great, as it looks alert and ready to spring into action. The lighting falling onto its front is lovely, and has the warm glow of the early morning light. What I especially like is the natural look of the image, with no heavy editing effects or harsh colours. If you have a version with a little more space around the hare it may be an even stronger shot but this is a fabulous image of a gorgeous wild creature in its natural habitat. Congratulations on your winning image.
A delightful image bringing a touch of magic to nature. I am unsure of the light source, maybe the low sunlight of an arctic winter?, but it has been used to great effect. The hare is beautifully back-lit, bringing emphasis to the long soft fur. The snow has also been captured in a way that looks like it is dancing in the air. The cool blue tones contrast nicely with the pale golden glow. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.
What a great shot of this delightful creature heading directly towards the camera at speed. Maybe this was a classical example of when as a photographer you silently will the creature to move closer, but then suddenly it starts heading too close and you will it to stop before it gets too close to make a great shot impossible! What I really like is the framing, and that you were still able to capture the hare with plenty of surroundings, giving plenty of "breating space" around the subject before it got any closer. I also love the way the tiny droplets of water have been captured around the hare as it races across the wet grass kicking up water behind it as it goes.. Beautiful lighting, and a delicate softness to the image creating a lovely mood. Congratulations on your third place finish.

You can enter anything from a portrait of a pet rabbit to a shot of wild hares running in their natural environment but please only enter photos of live animals. There were relatively few entries of pet rabbits, and even fewer indoor shots, but this is a great image and earns a well-deserved second placing. Captured with a wide aperture means the background is nicely softened so does not distract from the subject, which looks to be a rather adorable character. Conversion to black and white may not have been an obvious choice but it works really well. I like that you have not been tempted to move in too close, instead getting a lovely full length portrait that does not looked too tightly cropped. Great textures in the fluffy fur too. Congratulations on your second place finish.
