The way you have captured this pair of hares, close-in together, gives the impression they are somehow in collusion and up to mischief! Use of a long lens has completely thown the background out of focus, allowing these two lovely creatures to stand out in crisp focus, with great textural detail in the fur and the grass in the foreground. Lighting is lovely, illuminating the hares nicely to show them at their best. Congratulations on your second place finish.
What I especially love about this image is that we get a real sense of the level of alertness these animals must adopt, both to spot and catch food whilst also avoiding capture itself. Although facing away in preparation for a quick departure, we still get a great view of the hare's face and the rather huge eye catching the light. Lovely details in the fur and great capture of the whiskers. The conversion to black and white works well too, nicely keeping the tones and contrasts soft, suiting the subject perfectly. Well done on your top ten placing.
What a lovely portrait, almost looking to be posed for the shot! I love the composition and framing, withthe amnimal placed over to the right with plenty of space in front to prevent it looking too tightly cropped. Despite the long ears, the shot has good balance. The whiskers are magnificent, along with lovely textures in the fur. The long lens has blurred the background greatly, but importantly there are still a few colours and shapes which convey the impression of a natural scene rather than a cut-out and added backdrop. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.
A fabulous closeup portrait of this equally fabulous creature. I love that the subject completely fills the frame, forcing the viewer to stare back into these beautiful brown eyes. Processing has been kept very natural, with no evidence of over-sharpening in an attempt to add textural details, with wonderfully soft furry textures captured just perfectly without the need of excess editing assistance. Congratulations on your winning image.
