This picture offers a great alternative perspective on residential architecture. This is how so many of us experience buildings when staring bored out of a window on a grey rainy day. For me, it certainly brought back childhood memories sitting in the back of our family car driving through residential neighbourhoods that seemed endless!

I love waterscapes and this is a well executed example. The subject, a residential block with distinctive blue railings and variably coloured facades was a good choice. Its reflection on a still and sunny day creates a happy summer feeling.

The composition of this picture is excellent due to the block effect including the patch of sky. The casually parked bicycle contrasts nicely with the straight lines of the houses and road. The vibrant colours just top it all off. Overall a great shot with a very fresh feel.

This picture is made by its composition. The houses themselves are bland and rather characterless but the angle from which they are photographed has resulted in a beautiful picture nevertheless. The clear sky and unblemished exterior of the relatively new buildings create an almost minimalist feel. Very clever.

I love the atmosphere in this picture. Although taken in the dark with an overcast sky, the filter that has been used makes the street seem warm and inviting. A great example of what can be achieved with the camera on your phone.

Although the individual buildings in this picture are not that attractive, they have a great collective visual impact. The blue grey shine of the windows and railings contrasts nicely with the warmer colours of the facades, adding to a busy but nevertheless alluring picture.

The windows of this relatively common residential tower block have been nicely used to show how you can play with light and reflections when photographing modern architecture. I like the way the contrast between the dark sky around the flat versus the breaking cloud in the reflection creates a feeling of hope and expectation.

I love minimalism in photography and this simple composition is excellent. The white walls and blue sky makes us feel the heat of the sun outside. The dark window creates a longing for the coolness that the shadow inside the house would bring. Very nice.

Snow tends to give normally unremarkable residential streets something magical. This effect is very well captured in this photo. The shine of the streetlight on the snowy tree is particularly nice. The lit up windows in the house across the street create a feeling of cosiness despite the weather.
