The tilt/shift effect is a novel way of creating the appearance of shallow depth of field within images that are too far away from the camera to allow shallow depth of field to be created purely by means of a wide aperture. It can turn ordinary scenes of everyday life or places into apparent miniatures, as the brain is confused by what it sees! It is an effect that was very fashionable until recently, but maybe less so now. Dig around in your archives, or maybe now is the time to try this effect again, and see whether you’re still excited by it.
