Running

June 2022

I have seen a few images like this, but this one just stands out, as a runner myself I appreciate that you have to train all the time and also as a photographer, images should take you somewhere, this makes me think about when I have been out running and it has been so cold it is barely enjoyable, but once moving it is nice. It is amazing to see that placed within an image.

Absolutely top work here with this image, sharp and crisp lines, stunning shadows and the details on the person are enough for you to see them running through the frame. I like the consideration of the light source to be kept out of the frame and to just allow the light to slither into the image, thus not being too distracting and the clouds are also adding a lot to the image. Really nicely done and I bet you are proud of this image.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked below 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.** In the beginning, anthropologists tell us, we ran to chase animals for food. Running until our prey became too exhausted to continue. Nowadays, whilst many of us forget how to run once we’ve left the playground behind, for those known simply as ‘runners’, the practise is very much alive and well. They run around cities, up mountains, across deserts, enjoying the Runner’s High, and doing what our bodies were built to do.

The scale and detail in the image are just amazing, as are the patterns. Your shot has certainly ticked those boxes. I just love the composition with the worn-out yellow line running through the shot showing the location is well used, but this person is somehow able to run freely through what I imagine is an amazing location that is huge. The green on the yellow with the while top of the runner all complements each other so well.
