Brief

In most parts of the world nowadays sailing is a mainly recreational pursuit, but until the middle of the 19th century the use of wind to propel craft was the primary means of transport across our seas and oceans. This sailing contest encompasses imagery of all manner of ships and boats, as well as the sailors themselves, windsurfers, kitesurfers, and depictions of the sailing life.
