Castle Stalker is a very interesting landmark in Scotland, but this photo depicts so much more than just the ruin of an old castle!... I love the composition, with the lateral positioning of the castle that allows for the Scottish mountains to be discreetly noticed in the background. The atmosphere is very dramatic due to the colors and the way the moody sky reflects in the water. There is just enough detail captured to make it a rich and powerful picture that makes you want to explore the place more. Well done for first place and thank you for submitting this great picture to my contest!

Wow! This photo is so evocative of Scotland's magnificence! It is taken at the perfect moment of the day so that it's wonderfully bathed in soft, warm colors, on top of the snow coat all across it. Also, the round, serpent lines of the road and river are in very harmonious contrast with the pointy, rough peaks. Congratulations and thank you for submitting it!

What an incredible depiction of the Scottish osprey preying on fish! The level of detail is really impressive, including the contrasting expressions of the bird and fish. The precarious clutch with just one talon adds even more to the drama. An image that makes it all worth it to watch for hours with the camera ready to finally get such a masterpiece. Another gorgeous misty atmosphere that is stunning in itself, without depicting a known landmark of Scotland. There is an interesting blend of intrigue and calmness that is brought out by a couple of elements: the composition, with the naked, gloomy tree standing out among others that are touched by warm sunbeams; the enveloping, mysterious mist together with the beautiful reflection of an almost still lake. A superb combination of cold and warm colors, and of softness of clouds and water with the coarse rocks. The composition is a classic, with the mountain in the background and the bubbly river in the foreground, but there is so much more to this photo in terms of choosing the perfect time to be taken and the perfect camera settings, together with masterly editing skills, that places it in the top 10 without hesitation. This image really stands out among many of the other amazing photos submitted in this contest. The colorful, warm glow of the sun permeating through the morning mist completes the landscape and creates a lovely mood of calm and peace.
