Great contest!

A cracking shot of a place I have visited a few times on my photographic travels. Wonderfully composed and rendered, the compositing of the fluffy cloud into the image makes for an interesting addition to, what is already, a compelling piece of photographic work. The Absence of colour adds to the fairly minimalistic vibe of this shot.

A superbly bold, austere and brutalist seawall set against the muted tones endows this shot with the feeling of the typical grey, windy, winter's day by the sea. The use of long exposure has created a highlighted zone of breaking waves around the structure to make it stand out from the dark palette of greys. You can almost feel the spray on your face !

Wow, there are some spot on leading lines in this shot, They draw your eye right through the beautifully crafted negative space in the bottom half of the frame, straight towards the small amount of detail on the horizon. Wonderfully minimalist !!!

The tonal graduation between the sunrise or sunset held in juxtaposition to the dark stormy clouds works extremely well in this superbly composed shot. Even if this day was cold, the feeling of warmth and humidity in this shot are almost palpable.

This is a stunning image and thoroughly deserves to be my 1st place pick. The contrast in the lines between the sea foam and black sand enhances beautifully the feeling of movement given by the longer shutter speed used. The near-black sky mirrors what is towards the bottom of the frame giving a wonderfully balanced feel to this image. Well done !

The constant movement of the seas and oceans can be calmed in a photo by using a longer exposure to give the water a surreal, ethereal feel. I'd like to see your best landscape photos of the sea or ocean using this technique.

This shot came a very close second place. The paraffin lamp presents a superb static focal point. A splash of colour and contrast to the dynamic feeling of the constantly ebbing and flowing, tonally muted water that surrounds the almost desaturated rocks on which it's placed.
