The smile lines and wrinkles on this model's face hint at a life well lived. Oh the stories she could tell. I am sure she has experienced a lot of joy in her life as well as her fair share of hardship and pain. Yet her far-away gaze and smile indicate that she has kept her focus on the joys and remembers the good before the bad. A beautiful senior and a beautiful photograph which shows that you can age gracefully.
First, I want to commend everyone who entered this contest. The entries flooded in and the contest reached full capacity after just a few days. The quality of the entries exceeded my expectations.. For my top ten, I chose portraits that showed a close-up of a single senior, like this winning picture which shows a man reading a newspaper. I would happily give a penny for his thoughts. It seems that even his coffee can't make the day's news palatable. I love the lighting and crisp focus in which you can see every detail clearly, even the buttonhole in his jacket. Simply amazing!

Reading, writing, or balancing his budget? Whatever the task at hand, it appears that this man has the weight of the world on his shoulders. He seems to be lost in thought and miles away from the room pictured. Your choice of black and white for this portrait really cuts through all the distractions to reveal the raw emotion present. Thank you for your entry.
