An evocative capture of a lovely old shipwreck set against the subtle colourful backdrop. The inclusion of the swan is an added bonus that was not needed but is welcome all the same. I love the lights that are on in the properties in the background. This adds an extra layer of warmth to an already warm image.
A lovely image that deserves third place in this 'Shipwrecks' competition.
I really liked this image and at first, it looks like an optical illusion but once studied a little further, the image makes sense.
Great colour palette and light adds to the scene, and I appreciated the inclusion of the propellor. I also quite like the texture of the water at the base of the image too.
Congratulations to the photographer who shot this wonderful scene. It stood out for me among the 900 images entered.
The central position of the boat sits at ease while allowing enough space in front of it on the left-hand side of the frame. The slow exposure of the water in the foreground really compliments the scene, and the slight vignette of the sky helps draw the eyes down onto the boat. A wonderful colour palette too really suits the scene.
Overall a delightful image that deserves first place. Once again, well done to the photographer.
A wonderfully composed image that showcases the boat well. A lovely sunrise/sunset adds subtle colour to the image which is very pleasing. A long exposure technique has simplified the scene allowing the boat to stand out even further while the sane bank in front of the boat adds an extra element of interest to the image.
Overall a really pleasing image.
There were not many night time images of shipwrecks so this one really stood out to me. A nicely lit boat with the milky way present helps to create a serene scene that has you want to be stood there witnessing it for yourself. There's just about the right amount of light and detail on both the boat and the land.
A lovely image indeed.
I visited Pin Mill back in May for the first time and despite the high tide, did not find it an easy place to photograph so I appreciate the efforts of this photographer in doing a great job of capturing all six boats in the same frame.
Black and white was the obvious treatment considering the different colours and tonal range of the scene in colour and the long exposure of the fabulous sky adds to the sense of scale and scene.
My second place goes to the Corpach shipwreck near Fort William.
There are tremendous amount of images of this boat on social media and yet the photorapher has used a very low vantage point to have their image really stand out among the masses.
The placement of the top of the boat into the sky above the mountains allows the boat to stand out from the background The inclusion of the bush on the far left helps balance the image out too plus the mist that rolls by on the left hand side of the boat, allows the boat to stand out further.
Overall, a lovely take on this well documented and photographed boat.
A very stark capture of this boat caught my eye. The lack of detail in the sky allows the boat to really stand out and take center stage. A near central composition of the boat allows for space to include the wooden base stand and equipment.
The edit looks along the style of hike key which suits the subject very well indeed. Overall, a very pleasing image indeed.
Drama. This image has plenty of it. with the inclusion of the crashing wave up against the side of the ship. The image has you reminded that the ships had a hard existence on the open waters when in operation but also once they are expendable.
A lovely colour palette of the red rusty ship and the muted blue tones of the sky add to the overall enjoyment in looking at the image
I expected an image or two from Dungeness and I was not to be surprised to see many entered. However, this was my favourite.
While it is a conventional composition, it has been executed well, with a flat sky allowing the boat to be showcased well. I also appreciate that the photographer has allowed a small gap between the end of the metal rails and the boat.

There was the odd drone shot in the competition and this one I considered the best.
Excellent placing of the boat in the frame with just about enough land mass to anchor the boat in the scene and enough detail to have the viewer's eyes wanting to explore more. I thought that the shot worked very well indeed.

A most evocative capture of Corpach taken what looks like in the early throes of winter. The central position of the boat works well because the land mass in the foregournd is kept within the frame on the right hand side. The mast stands proud of the snow capped mountains and the is enough detail in the sky to remain interesting while not competing for attention with the rest of the image.
A most pleasing image.

This is a true shipwreck and fits the competition brief 100%. There were only half a dozen underwater images of shipwrecks in the competition but this was my favourite.
A lovely composition involving perfect placement of both the boat and diver has you transported right there with them. The inclusion of the fish top left adds to the scene too. A very nice image.

Every seafaring vessel at some point ceases to sail. Some in an ordered way, but many left as hulking wrecks, often an unbefitting end to a life spent cresting the waves. Images of shipwrecks are filled with poignancy, and leave the viewer pondering the many journeys that led to that point.
