This image has great colour and just the right depth of field - simple yet strong. I would have liked to see a bit more room to the left to ease off the kissing in this shot, but essentially I like it. Just shy of a commendation.

I love this strong graphic image. This reportage shot has wonderful de-saturated colours with some great rich tones in the flesh and goat's head. I also like the way the blues pop out in the background. It also has great contrast and good tight cropping. The 'Burberry' check headscarf adds a little humour to this shot. This image stands out as a clear winner for me for breaking free from conventional style with a good gritty subject.

Great capture of a wonderfully eccentric character enjoying food in its most basic form at the food market. Wonderful colours and great skin tones. Those plaits under her hat are magnificent! Great focus on food in context.

I'm enjoying the breathing space in this image combined with wonderful colours that ping off a great background choice.

A lovely reportage shot. This image has a wonderful timeless quality to it, and an unusual blend of soft painterly colours. It has lovely off-centre positioning, and the meat clever has been caught at just the right moment. The vignette of shadow at the top of the image works well. Great capture.

This image has good light and lovely greens, with just the right amount of condensation. A successful drink image that makes me want to take a refreshing sip.

This is a fantastic view, combined with the mug and the Danish. It leads the eye from the dark crack in the rock, up through the food and out into a perfect mountain valley below in dramatic style. Food with a view - what a great combination.

The food looks so fresh and wonderful. But I think this shot would have worked better if you pulled back and zoomed in on a longer lens in order to omit the overexposed character carrying the buckets in the background. Although it's good to keep the mountains.

Yes, this one works for me. I like the natural styling with good combination of textures. Good strong crop together with a shallow depth of field pulls you in and says 'Eat me.'

Beautiful soft lighting in this capture makes me want to stroke it. It's a wonderful clean graphic image. The use of black offsets the colours well, which I find works well with natural subjects.

This shot has good off-kilter composition and great natural styling. Great visual balance too, with the red wine just creeping out of shot. The meat is perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the blue napkin brings in an essential soft texture to balance out the shot. Nicely done.

It's a wonderful subject matter, but I feel this shot would have worked much better if you showed us that beautiful orange yolk breaking out over the ham. Maybe a touch of warmth on the colour correction could help too.

This shot has good composition, but I feel if there was a touch more light in the bottle of oil it would work very well.
