Open Judging Results
Brief

This contest is open to photographers ranked between 251 and 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.

There is a deliberateness about side view portraits that lends them an air completely of their own in the portraiture genre. Showing someone’s facial profile, with so little view into the eye, seems to create more of a record of the person, than a glimpse into their soul. A contrast between the subject and the background can heighten the profile, being a silhouette at one extreme, or a well lit portrait against a black background at the other. Images must show the (human) subject facing at right angles to the camera, or at most just a few degrees off from that.

Ranked Contests are a weekly chance to compete alongside photographers of a similar Leaderboard ranking. Three contests with the same theme run at one time - for photographers ranked 1-250; 251-1000; and 1001+. They open Saturday morning after that week’s leaderboard has been updated, and are open for 5 days. They are Premium Contests, Expert-judged, but with no Crowd vote, so are worth 3x the standard ranking points.
