The saying that simplicity often works best really does ring true for this image. While we received many sweeping landscape photographs, and many beautiful closeup shots, the minimalism of this delicate study caught our eye. The colour contrast is gorgeous while the processing is clever and inspired. This is all complemented by a pleasing bokeh. Well spotted and constructed!

Many photographers forget to study a landscape scene in the portrait format. The choice to do so here has resulted in fantastic depth and great colour and detail in the foreground, which would have been lost if using landscape orientation. The colour palette is stunning and creates a fine art style befitting the scene. An image which deserves many repeat visits.
Macro and closeup photography was a popular choice for this round. A powerful way to create shots which stand out in this genre is to use a low angle and aim the lens up.. That technique has worked wonders for this scene, giving us a novel and engaging view of a well-photographed subject. The frame is right on-brief, giving us a couple of subtle signs that the seasons are changing. The colours are lovely and the use of flash has increased saturation naturally, while freezing motion. Technically excellent with a great concept. Congratulations!
We love to see original ideas in Photocrowd contests and this image focusses on a less obvious subject, but one which still fits the brief well. The shallow depth of field and perspective creates a lovely tunnel-like illusion, blending the subtle colour and contrasty light. A great sense of depth and movement - both literal and metaphorical. Well done from us!

After the chill of winter, it's always a heartwarming to see new blooms and buds appearing in the landscape. We'd like you to send us your best spring-time shots, that illustrate the season with originality – think beyond flowers!

Macro was a popular topic for this round of Photocrowd. This is a well spotted subject but could use a little refinement. The shallow depth is attractive but by lowering the camera. a fraction more we would be able to see a few more spectral highlights, making the backdrop more appealing. The lighting is also too harsh, creating too much contrast. Try using a piece of white paper to diffuse the direct sunlight, for softer shadows and better colour.
