One of my favourite photos in the competition! The technicalities of this image are great, the focus of the bird is perfect, the lighting is just right with no harsh highlights or shadows. Overall it's a very pleasing image to look at, and I am very impressed that you got the bee perfectly in focus too! Well done!
Showcasing the natural behaviours of wildlife when one photographs them I think is very important. You have showed exactly that in this image - it tells a story. The focus on each of the birds is perfect, your shutter just right to keep a little movement in the wings of the parent and you've got a clear background. A lovely image - well done.
I particularly like this image because of the posture of the blue tit. It can be fairly easy to capture birds perched on a branch or feeder but you have successfully captured some interesting natural behaviour here. It's also nice to see a different colour palette with such a vibrant red background. A really lovely image - congratulations!
A beautiful example of the fine art side of nature photography. The Whinchat stands out perfectly and your use of negative space exaggerates this. You have succeeded in capturing an uncluttered background despite all the textures in the rapeseed field. Congratulations on such a wonderful photo!

One of the things that sets wildlife photos apart from the rest is a good use of light - here you have done exactly that. The backlight of this photo is wonderful, creating that beautiful halo around the bird. What is also unusual is that you've created a lovely bright bokeh in the foreground, adding to the depth of colour in the image too. Well done!

The smaller the bird, the more challenges are presented to the photographer. Longer lenses and quick wits are needed, as these tiny subjects are usually more active and less likely to wait around for you to get your focus and framing right. Small birds are defined for this contest as those with a wingspan of around 30cm or less, so no starlings, blackbirds, doves etc.
It is lovely to see more than one bird in this shot, something that can be quite difficult to achieve, especially when they can be quite territorial! You have achieved a really lovely composition with suitable colours, but just be careful that the viewers eye isn't drawn too much to the textures on the log and is drawn to the birds instead. You've created a really fabulous image - well done!
Silhouette images can be difficult to capture well as sometimes it's hard to tell what the subject is. Theres no doubt about that in this image. The profile of the bird is perfect; a sharp focus and good timing to capture the best posture from the bird is what has helped you achieve this. It's an excellent shot, well done!
Capturing birds in flight can be exceptionally difficult when getting the focus right, especially at long focal lengths, and a fast enough shutter speed to freeze the wings. You have managed both of these very well here. What made this image pop out to me is the bug - it's great to see natural behaviours displayed by the wildlife you shoot. Well done.
