Snowy Landscapes of Japan

April 2021

This is a common scene I see off the sides of the roads while driving in Japan. I like the simplicity of this photo and how, for me at least, it can capture winter normalcy so well. I do think that the white vignette is a little too strong. If you had blended it a little better it would have benefited this photo.

The Biei Blue Ponds is most beautiful covered in a layer of snow. Snow brings out the bright blue of this peculiar pond. I really enjoy the patterns the broken ice shows and the orange is a nice contrasting color to the the blue of the pond.

Mt. Fuji is iconic and known worldwide. I like you black and white interpretation of it. The panorama allows for your focus to be clearly on the mountain instead of a potentially busy foreground in a normal landscape photo. I can see that the mountain is in sharp focus.

It's incredible to see a photo of rural Japan from the 80s. I've personally been trying to get to this crater lake for the past 2 years but the volcanic level activity is too high. The snow in this photo really brings out the color of the crater lake. I really enjoy the close framing of the photo. I guess this can be considered an old school cool photo.
