What isn't 'springy' about this shot? We can't think of anything! Everything about the scene shouts Springtime, from the subject's beauty to the rich palette of seasonal yellows and greens in the background. The composition is very well considered and allows us to take it all in – the swirly bokeh and the striking insect. Very nicely done.

This is a well-timed shot! The moment is perfectly captured – it's not something we see every day. The perspective and angle are both excellent, with enough compression to bring the background colours into the shot and nicely contrast against the greens and yellows. Well spotted and expertly captured.

This is a magical scene! It looks like it was plucked from the mind of JRR Tolkien. We're particularly drawn to the subtle, glowing light on the distant mountains and the gentle contrast of the pinkish Epilobium in the foreground. The image has a serenity that makes us imagine a warm spring evening, with just a hint of chill still in the breeze.

Often a photo is most impactful when the elements merely suggest something, rather than showing it exactly. The muted colours, subtle lighting, and sparkling bokeh all give the feeling of walking through a springtime scene and being at one with nature. Great use of depth-of-field control.

This looks like an Archadian painting. The colours, light, and composition all make it feel idyllic, and you can almost smell the flowers. The image also contains a full spectrum of colours, with some nice local contrast to give the scene depth. A simple, yet attractive shot. Nicely done.

As the seasons change the landscape is transformed. Capture the colour and dramatic lighting found in the countryside or even the city this time of year.

Creativity and unusual interpretations of the brief are guaranteed to catch our attention. This is a simple shot, which actually features little colour. However, there is just enough in the refracted images of the flowers to give away the season and let us imagine a spring shower has glazed the landscape in these water droplets. Well done.

Not all spring shots have to be landscapes! This image was unique in that its focus was not on the scenery, but rather the subjects interacting and living within it. It's a tender moment and makes great use of the low sunlight and spring colour to create a feeling of the season, rather than being overly literal.

This shot is glowing! The colour contrasts are beautiful and the background diffusion really makes the most of the dappled spring light. We love how the frame draws the eye to the fox and creates the sense of a spring evening. A simple shot but one which fits the brief perfectly.

What a great landscape shot. The yellow Oil Seed flowers in the foreground help to frame the terrain beyond and give the shot tremendous depth. There are also some great colour interactions here too and the whole thing shouts of Springtime! A very nicely constructed scenic shot.

We love the colours in this shot. The pastel-like tones create a radial gradient which really spotlights the beautiful insects and draws our attention into the shot. The framing is also well thought-through, not quite central but striking. A lovely moment captured with care. Well done.

Sometimes, it's the little details which tell the bigger story. We like how simple this image is and the nice gentle contrast that is created between the flower and the background. The low perspective really makes the most of the shallow depth-of-field and the dew-glistening on the stems.

Bluebells are bound to make an appearance in a Springtime round of the competition. We saw many this year, but this image stood out for its use of a central composition and perfect exposure. It balanced detail retention in the highlights with creative clipping, to produce that gorgeous glow.

This is another image this round which looks like a painting. The colours, light, and composition all make it feel idyllic, and you can almost smell the woodland environment. The image also contains a full spectrum of colours, with some nice local contrast to give the scene depth. Nicely done.

This is a fun shot! Again, this is a simple frame but one which draws in the viewer and truly highlights the cheeky character of the subject. The lighting is bright and airy, but the exposure is managed well, with no unsightly blown highlights. Well done.

This shot is glowing! The colour contrasts are beautiful and the background diffusion really makes the most of the dappled spring light. We love how the frame highlights the delicate petals and the sense of spring. A simple subject but one which fits the brief perfectly.
