A clean modern take in the style of History paintings. Lovely use of light and the simple lines created by the table and the coloured walls meeting add a simplistic unstated feel which works very well. It's a very well worked image that draws you in and the balance in the colours allows the viewer to enjoy the warmth of vase against the dark blue background to the side. Clean, simple and elegant.

The image talks about photography's ability to record regardless of the subject. An interesting take on the competition. A photograph that stands out.

***Please research the topic of the 17th Century "Golden Age of Dutch Still life painting" before entering this contest. Start on the Wikipedia page! *** Speciality still life was a style of painting made popular in the Netherlands during the early 1600s. Many of the objects depicted are symbolic and stylistically bold. Floral motifs are also a typical feature and frequently appear among other, more everyday objects. Using these works as your inspiration, try to recreate and photograph something reminiscent of this striking genre. Good luck!
