For me the simplicity of the composition is most effective and allows the drama of the stormy clouds to tell the story. The position of the tree is most pleasing and I love the contrast between the ground and the sky. The limited colour palette adds to the overall effectiveness of the image. Many thanks for entering your image in my competition and congratulations on your top ten place
Timing is everything in this image, well done for getting this capture at the perfect moment. There were many huge waves crashing over lighthouses entered in this competition, but for me this one stood out for not only the drama and scale of the waves, but the added foreground adds interest and and grounds the image. I love that the focus is on the razor wire in the foreground and that the drama behind is almost incidental. Many thanks for entering your image in my competition and congratulations on your top ten place.
The scale of the composition is what attracted me most to this image. The vastness of the manmade power station and bridge, are nothing compared to the power of nature. I like the black and white treatment, as it adds to the drama and overall effect and heightens the feeling of malevolence of the stormy skies. Many thanks for entering your image in my competition and congratulations on your top ten place.
This image made me smile, the dedication of the runner makes a great subject. By focussing on the rain, the image has almost has an impressionist feel to it, which I really like. The overall tones and limited colour palette add to the effectiveness of the image. Many thanks for entering your image in my competition and congratulations on your top ten place
Out of the all the entries with lightning, this one attracted me by the simplicity of the composition allowing the lightning strike to dominate the image. The colours in the sky are great and contrast well with the silhouettes of the tree and the foreground. Many thanks for entering your image in my competition and congratulations on your top ten place
There is so much to love about this image. I keep coming back to it and seeing new things. The colour of the grasses contrasts brilliantly with the rest of the image and post processing has been skillfully handled to bring out all the individual elements. The black sands echo the stormy skies, and the snow on the mountains allows them to stand out, but it is the ocean and the lone figure that brings the image to life. Many thanks for entering your image in my competition and congratulations on your top ten place
What a stunning image! It attracted me as soon as I saw it. I love everything about it, the composition, colours, energy and drama. Your narrative really adds to the storytelling allowing the viewer to know what you experienced whilst getting the shot. The anticipation makes this a perfect 'before the storm' image. Many thanks for entering your image in my competition and congratulations on your first place.
I chose this image for the composition, the gorgeous foreground standing out well against the the dark stormy skies. The colours compliment each other very well. The drama of the of the church and tree on top of the hill is a gift for any photographer, but to be there and able to capture these with the stormy sky was perfect timing. Many thanks for entering your image in my competition and congratulations on your top ten place.
This image has an apocalyptic feel about it. The incredible clouds look to me like fire breathing monsters ready to destroy the city with their lightning bolts! I like the amount of detail on the foreground showing a city full of life, almost unaware of the approaching storm. A pity that you have not titled this image or given any indication of where it is- for me this adds hugely to the narrative. Many thanks for entering my competition and congratulations on your top ten place
Sometimes you can look at a picture and immediately feel what it was like to be there. What a downpour skillfully captured, The edge of the awning is effective at making the viewer feel dry whilst watching the storm. The lone car on the deserted street really adds to the composition and I love the bikes propped against the bench on the left of the image. Many thanks for entering your image in my competition and congratulations on your top ten place.
