What attracted me to this photograph were the diagonal lines of the carriage coming in from the left. The top and bottom lines leave the frame but the central one leads the eye directly to the boy. The left hand side is going out of focus and this combined with the steam gives a sense of movement. The boy's expression is wonderfully caught. Ho looks very sad to be leaving. A very evocative, story telling image.
What a great image! The asymmetrical symmetry creates a feeling of tension in an otherwise calm situation. The framing and composition are excellent. The exposure has got detail in the shadow areas. The white ' hot spot ' in the hanging light could have been a distraction but isn't. A worthy winner - well done!
I think the colours - warm pinks and cold blues - combined with the myriad of diagonal lines work so well together. The two main diagonals coming in from the top right and bottom left lead the eye into the centre of the frame and the figure. The rays from the street light contrast with her black dress. I would heve been tempted to remove the small figures on the right. I would have liked some information about the location. Great photo!
I feel the 4 main elements of this image - the 2 fugures, the columns and the steps - all work together in perfect harmony. The figures sit in the space between the columns and the outer columns keep the eye concentrated on the figures. The contrast between the small man sitting on the top step using his phone and the much larger statue of Lincoln sitting statesman like adds some tension to the image. Well seen!
What wonderful expressions! I wonder what he's saying and what she's thinking? Are they lost? We'll never know! This is pin sharp on the two figures ( I can almost feel his whiskers ) and the blurred background avoids any distractions. The left of the map as we view it, is just going slightly soft but it's a very minor point. I wonder if they reached their destination. Well seen!
The timing of this shot is spot on ! The photographer has waited until the figure is perfectly placed between the first and second poster , and also on a third , to create an excellent composition. She is also walking left to right which is the way the picture is read. The warm colour of the clothes contrasts with the overall cool feel of the rest of the image. I wonder if the water spray on the left should have been removed as it is a slight distraction and adds nothing to the image. Well waited for!

The look on her face and her hands on her hips! I wonder what she is thinking? I think this is almost a Cartier-Bresson 'Decisive Moment' picture! The composition is spot on with the woman well placed in the picture space, slightly above and looking down on her audience. A good tight crop keeps the eye concentrated where it needs to be. Well done!

I like the look of intense concentration on the cyclists face! Your panning technique is spot on to make the figure and bike sharp with the background nicely blurred. I wonder if it would be slightly better if she were just a little further into the picture space so her rucksack and rear wheel were not clipped? Great shot and B&W is the right choice. Well done.
It's the colours here that make the image so attractive. The large expanse of blue contrasting with the narrow yellow bands in their head wear. Most of the bards are looking down at the one tying her shoe laces which confirms the figure as the centre of attention. I wondered if cropping a little tighter on the left to lose the hand would improve the image? Minor point! Great image!
