To me this photo is a perfect example of when colour is needed for street photographs. Not only are the differences in the sades of purple beautiful but it's a great capture of the three young men on their bike, The white sunglasses and yellowish background just happen to offer a fortunate complement to the dominant purple. Great shot and congratulations on first place!

So many ambiguities in this mysterious photo. Is he a homeless person or simply an eccentric? Are we in a city park or somewhere rural? What is the building in the background? Are the magazine ans contents of the garbage bag his or did they just happen to be there? All of the uncertainty here makes for a highly interesting shot.
The eyes looking towards the right and in back perfectly capture the emotion of annoyance combined with fear when being unwantedly followed. The formal geisha makeup even helps accentuate this, especially the reddish mascara on her upper eyelids. The composition is perfect and the soft green of the kimono complements the burred yet harsher shades behind it.
This memorable photo is not the usual version of street photography in that instead of aiming to capture an expression at random, it is an exercise n the use of dark and muted colour with occasional highlights. In the way, it can be said to resemble one of Whistler's paintings. The diagonality adds to the sense of flow, along with the light coming from overhead.
I found this to be the most moving image in the contrast. It could stand for any child who is in some way imprisoned or restricted in movement. A perfect capture of the facial expression combining.perhaps both gratitude and longing for liberty. The rather harsh light in comparison to the softer colour accentuates this feeling. Congratulations on third place.
Another variant from typical street photography, this overhead photo stood out as a capture of an interrupted pattern. It especially works because the pattern in in simple black and white and the interruptions - the umbrellas - mix black, white and colour to product a very interesting randomized effect. I found that on staring at it, the pedestrians seem to be moving!

What a poignant and beautiful capture of the relief of the physical need for water! The young girl's expression is captured beautifully alongside the dripping spigot nearby. The shadow and contrast along with the muted colour saturation levels add just the right touch, along with the light reflecting from her arm, fingers and face. Congratulations on second place.

Lot of street performers have getups to match their locale, but this guy seems to get it down perfectly. The beret, the striped shirt, the accordion and especially the little black cat on top all seem to immediately spell Paris, along with his beard and slightly eccentric look. A very interesting capture.
