When you ask for a black background, the last thing you expect is to have a black subject as well, and that makes the photo original. Furthermore, in this photo the light is dosed with great precision and draws each detail of the two objects making them perfectly legible. Last but non least, the simple and balanced composition makes it even more enjoyable
A floral bouquet is often interesting on a black background, but it also risks turning into a cliché. In this case, three aspects contribute to making this photo original: the very elegant chromatic assortment, the perfect focus of the large flowers in the foreground and the contrast with the small blurry yellow flowers in the back of the bouquet. The whole is balanced and pleasant. A great job!

In this contest I want to see your still-life photos that have a black background and were shot in a studio or studio-type setting. You can use any kind of light source but the black background should be obtained as a consequence of a wise use of the light. The use of a black background can help focus attention and show off the colours and characteristics of your subject. The use of a reflective base, if black, is allowed but please do not paint the background black in photo editing; the black background should be as captured by appropriate use of lighting.
every time we talk about a black background someone thinks about splash photography and its possible interpretations. This proposal is very interesting because it makes static a photograph which, as a rule, is very dynamic and transforms the air bubbles into small precious gems that cover the two red cherries. The result is original and pleasant
I love Robert Mapplethorpe's floral photographs very much and this photo reminds me more than the others in the series because it combines the clean lines, the simplicity of the composition and the softness of the tulip stem with the transience of beauty that lasts only a few moments. The result is also obtained thanks to perfect lighting. The fallen petal helps to place the vase which, otherwise, would seem to float in the void. The only improvement I would suggest if the focusing of the fallen petal
I can't imagine how many peppers have been cut to find a perfect one for the sexual allusions that the photographer had imagined, but - even if the result is a bit too explicit - I appreciate the perfection of the preparation and quality oh the shot. This photo cannot fail to remind me of Mapplethorpe and I believe that the photographer also has him among his references
