Stunning British Wildlife

Superb lighting conditions really make this photo stand out. The early morning light on the frosty grass and the mesmerizing eye contact with the hare are wonderful. The fieldcraft required to capture such an image show through. A worthy Top 10 image - thank you for sharing

Wow, what a superb image. Love the interaction between the juvenile & the adult. Greater spotted woodpeckers are quite timid in my experience so this capture has been well prepared beforehand and the reward is this wonderful photo. Lighting, exposure & focus are all spot on as is the composition. Congratulations on such a stunning British wildlife photo.

This super heron photo jumped out during my judging due to it being a very different photo shot very well. The ultra low angle has got the viewer at eye-level with the bird and as a bonus captured the reflection superbly. The subtle lighting adds to the tranquil scene. Wonderful photo - well done

I'm a sucker for red squirrels so was looking forward to seeing many photos entered in the competition. This young red in the falling snow was clearly the best of the bunch and shot straight into my Top 10 and deservedly so. Not still for very long the red squirrel is not that easy to photograph. To capture a classic pose with the added sense of drama with the falling snow makes for a winning image all day long - congratulations Karen.

Puffins are on my bucket list to photograph so was very pleased to see an image of this stunning quality entered in the competition. The image has the drama of flight captured beautifully as the puffin comes in to land. Focus is spot on, as are the muted colours.
