I've placed this image in my top ten because you've caught a typical swift pattern really well here: the characteristic arrowhead shape in flight, with two birds flying in close formation and with the light catching the underside of the wings. I know how hard this is to achieve: well done. Using a plain white background creates an elegant, striking image.
This is a very beautiful, delicate image: well done with composition and editing. You've captured a characteristic movement very accurately, and the details of the bird stand out perfectly against the softer background. I don't know how long you had to wait for the right moment, but it was certainly worth it!
Beautiful capture here: well done. I particularly like the composition, with the colour and the details of the flying bird standing out against the grey, watery background. It's hard to capture both the delicate details and the overall shape and movement, with such a fast flier, and you've really achieved that here. Thank you!

Swallows, house martins and swifts are wonderful to watch, but capturing images of them in flight is a challenge because of their sheer speed. For this contest, I would like to see your photos of any of these birds in the air, whether singly, in pairs or larger groups. Please no images that only include birds on the nest or perching, although perching birds may be included as part of your image, so long as birds in flight are the main point of interest. Both colour and black and white images are welcome, so long as you are capturing the grace and energy of swallows, swifts and house martins in flight. I hope you enjoy the challenge.
