Love this shot, it caught my attention straight away and pulled me in to look closer. It captures the moment, the power of the player amongst the team all watching and waiting to see where the ball goes. Love it!. This shot called for a wide-angle lens and some luck for the players to be in the right spot. the low shutter speed adds to the sense of motion and what happens next. And the use of a fast iso helps capture the light needed at f4. Black and white gives the image impact and focuses the attention to where the action is. Nicely done, a great image to be proud of well done on winning this competition.

What a great moment to capture! Perfect composition - the position of the ball and players and being on the line too! I remember seeing this on the TV but you captured it as a photo which is so much more powerful. Well done. It was a tough call on where to place this shot in my top 10. Could so easily have been 1st or 2nd but I think 3rd is right in the context of the other images in the competition. A great shot, one for the portfolio.

Nice to see your shot using motion blur. I do a lot of these and it takes a lot of practice to get it right. Looking at your settings on your camera I would suggest trying with a wider angle, set to 70mm rather than 200mm as at this focal length any slight movement that isn't following the subject exactly is going to add unintentional blur to the final shot. When you have solid objects in a motion blur action shot your aim should be to get these tack sharp or the head and eye of the player which is where the eyes naturally fall. And to get the most out of a motion blur shot some good post-processing is needed to pull the details out. In this shot, the first thing is to correct the colour balance and lose the green cast. then add a little contrast, not to much though, and then to probably add some saturation to the colours, again just a little, don't over-process it. Well done though, please do keep practising, it will pay off.

***This contest is open to subscribers (members on the Challenger, Pro and Master subscription tiers). However if you're not a paying subscriber you can still purchase entries for £2 (GBP) per image.*** Team sport photography can be difficult, since the more people there are in a photograph, the more complicated the shot. Managing multiple players and making sure everyone’s sharp is no easy task, whether they’re pro-league or your local team. But with a little strategy and the right timing, you’ll be able create memorable and dynamic shots.
