As soon as I saw this image it stood out, the amazing colours, the church and churchyard in the foreground, plus the town in the background. It was also taken in Northern Ireland where the Northern Lights don't happen as often as in some other countries. The red and purple colours are also amazing. Well done.

I chose the image for the top ten as it is so different. I liked the amazing number of stars, the clear water and what looks like the aftermath of a sunset with the Aurora in just the right position.

I liked this image because it was different, being of the Southern Lights. Therefore the environment is quite different from that seen with most images of the Northern Lights. I liked the windmill in this image, especially as it was in exactly the right position.

Another striking image of the Aurora. The foreground, reflections and the position of the curtains of light all come together to make a very eye-catching image. The snow capped mountains from which the lights appear to be coming also add greatly to this image.

A very striking image. The milky way and the Aurora make an amazing combination. The colours are beautiful. I had wondered whether this was a composite shop, but apparently not. Amazing planning to be in just the right place at the right time.

For this competition I would like to see photographs of the aurora, by which I mean the aurora borealis (northern lights) or the aurora australis (southern lights). No other types of light shows will be judged.

I liked this image because it was unusual. At first I wondered whether it was a composite shot, but on looking at it more closely I think it was as taken, with the moon possibly being processed in imagine software to darken it.

I really liked this almost abstract of the Aurora with the mist and the reflections in the water. It made for an entirely different type of image. The colours are amazing, making this image one of my commended images. Well done.
