It was extremely tough to pick a winner amongst a cohort of magnificent images and I've changed my mind a dozen times. This eventually has won out, partly because it uses the colour blue in a really impressive way, partly because the composition is beautifully done but also because so many people would miss details such as this. From the flow of the water and that gorgeous deep blue hue to the detail of the icicles at the top of the frame, this is a masterful and evocative composition. Everything works and the idea of 'blue' is evoked not just through the colour but also through the subject matter. Really nicely done, congrats.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 1 and 250 in this week’s Leaderboard.** Yes, blue seas and yes, blue skies - the subtle, gentle hues, and the punchy polarised ones too. But also blueberries, butterflies, bluebells, blue jays and blue eyes that sparkle. Have fun finding and shooting the colour blue.
I wanted to review this because I absolutely love the image that you've created here and it deservedly has a place in the top 10. The colour blue is at the heart of it, colouring the walls and doors, reflecting onto the main protagonist of the composition, the gentleman walking through the passage. Your composition is spot on, providing a view point that is almost as if we're hiding behind a wall, waiting for the protagonist to wander past. Because of this it has a cinematic feel and a powerful narrative, something that is hard to achieve in a single frame. Congratulation of creating a stunning narrative image and making the top 10.

I absolutely love the graphical quality of this image and if I could have two winning images this would 100% be the other. It embodies the idea of 'the colour blue' and runs with it. I love the subtle change in tone from the bright blue on the far right to the lighter blue on the far left. It took me quite some time to realise that this is a top down perspective overlooking the pool with the sun lounger on the left as it could so easily have been a detail shot from inside the pool. The lighting is great but it's the masterful composition that makes this image stand above the many others entered into this competition. Fabulous work.
This is a wonderful example of when the inclusion of a human element can enhance an image and elevate it to something extraordinary. Even without the surfer making their way out into the surf this would be an impressive image. The rolling waves, and frothing surf crashing towards the shoreline are full of power and energy. The colour blue runs throughout the image, mainly in the form of gorgeous turquoise hues. The surfer provides context, narrative and scale to the image. A powerful composition that demonstrates how a top-down perspective can really help to create intriguing imagery. Congrats on making the top three in a highly competitive field of images.
