This image captures the location so well. It really feels like the Rifugio is very remote and right in the middle of in the mountains.
The composition is not one I have seen before, the light is subtle but alluring and the animals compliment the landscape nicely.
What a place to spend the night, great shot and in the top 3!
This is one of the few entries shot in Winter and from high in the mountains.
The photographer's endeavour to get to a high vantage point is rewarded with a great view of a cloud inversion and this scene with the lone figure in the mountains
Agree with the entrant that it show how capable modern smartphones are. Cracking shot
Lago Di Braies is one of the most famous photo spots in the Dolomites and it is easy to see why when you look at this shot.
It looks like such a still and peaceful day, the use of the boats to draw the viewer into the image is excellent and lead to the reflection in the turquoise water and hint of colour in the sky.
Marvellous image
Picking a winner out of such a fabulous selection was very difficult but eventually I settled on this shot from the Cinque Torri..
The thing that really caught my eye about this one was the fact the light is concentrated on the face of the Cinque Torri and I felt this drew the viewer to the focal point so well.
I have to admit that it also helped that when I went here last year, it was pouring with rain and I couldn't even see the towers!
Congratulations, beautiful shot

The Dolomites region in Northern Italy is popular with photographers for a good reason. As well as the spectacular mountains, there are lakes, forest, churches and monuments which all present opportunities for the photographer. For this contest I would like to see your best photos showcasing the Dolomites - any subject is fine so long as it taken in the Dolomites. This is a photography competition so composite images are not permitted (HDR and bracketed images are permitted providing all the exposures are taken close together).
