A moody and brooding shot of Scotland's west coast at its most dramatic. The shafts of light penetrating the overall feeling of stormy darkness punctuate the scene very effectively. The photographer has paid attention to their shutter speed, resulting in the pleasing texture in the water and the combination of a strong foreground receding the distant peaks works well.
An excellent capture from a well known photographic destination in Iceland, which utilises the square format to maximum advantage. The strong diagonals in the sky compliment the spiky mountain tops splendidly, the colours and tone are grounding and powerful. The angle of light plays beautifully on the rock, capturing the textures and the flush of green growth on stone.
