Open Judging Results
Brief

This contest is open to photographers ranked below 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.

Astrophotography is a thrilling genre of photography. The moon, with its size and proximity to the Earth offers a unique opportunity to shoot a planetary mass in some detail without needing the most specialist of equipment. On cloudless nights the moon is a presence that can bring a source of night light, and provide an evocative addition to nighttime scenes. For the avoidance of doubt, the moon must be visible in each submitted image, although it if is entirely incidental to the scene then it is unlikely to be awarded.

Ranked Contests are a weekly chance to compete alongside photographers of a similar Leaderboard ranking. Three contests with the same theme run at one time - for photographers ranked 1-250; 251-1000; and 1001+. They open Saturday morning after that week’s leaderboard has been updated, and are open for 5 days. They are Premium Contests, Expert-judged, but with no Crowd vote, so are worth 3x the standard ranking points.
