This eye-catching shot is beautifully considered, with the kayaker perfectly placed within the frame to create a sense of scale and human context. The colours are fantastic, while the high vantage point afforded by the drone makes it particularly special.

This is a remarkably simple composition, but one which works incredibly well. The vibrant colours of autumn would look great as a large-scale print, while the relatively tight crop gives the impression that the trees in the wood stretch on for infinity.

A classic subject for a British landscape, but it has been executed extremely well. The glistening road adds interest, while a sense of scale is created by the sheep dotted around the scene. Converting to monochrome is a good choice, helping to convey a timeless feeling for the shot.

This fantastic abstract shot is a wonderful interpretation of our brief for this round. The mono conversion makes it particularly striking, while the curves and lines are mesmerising. The stark black background helps to keep it simple, making the subject stand out boldly.

If you like cityscapes or landscapes then this round is for you. The brief is purposefully loose, and we are happy to receive images featuring anything from contemporary architecture to grand, mountainous vistas. From the early morning sun throwing shadows onto a skyscraper, to the undulating form of hills receding into the distance, the possibilities are endless. Don’t be afraid to be abstract in your interpretation: architecture, for instance, is full of curves, lines and other interesting details. When it comes to shooting the landscape, light is everything – so pay attention to sunrise and sunset times, the weather forecast and tide timetables, where appropriate. Whether you go urban or rural, planning is a must.

This is a really unusual view of the famous Pulteney Bridge, which really makes it stand out from the crowd. Use of a slow shutter speed to blur the water gives a good sense of movement, while the sky has a good dramatic feeling to it.

The pastel-like colours of this shot give it a nice painterly feel, especially when coupled with the long exposure to create a blurred effect in the water. Including the small house gives an impressive sense of scale - while the reflections give it a good degree of balance.
