This powerful shot is full of colour and shape. Distinct black edges around the umbrellas create a scaly pattern interrupted only with the painters colourful tops. Their hats parallel the round circular shapes of the umbrellas, and sitting in the top-right of the frame, helps to draw the eye across the entire image.
This shot of Buddhist monks celebrating the end of lent juxtaposes the previous three month period, during monsoon season, where they are not permitted to leave their temples to travel, instead focusing solely on meditation. The lanterns and lights in the background provide a textured backdrop of bokeh, while the candle in the foreground lights the subjects face.
A trader is perfectly framed by his camels at the Pushkar Mela camel fair in India. The wonderful golden light entering from the right beautifully skips across the animals's fur, the trader and the mountains behind. A long focal length of 190mm compresses the perspective filling the background with mountain.
The low angle of this shot allows the photographer to capture the expression of the dancing woman during Holi celebrations. The yellow fabric is held in the air and brings attention to the centre of the frame. Care has been taken not to overexpose the sky or the fabric, which would be easily done thanks to the harsh, direct light.
As the sun goes down on another day during an air balloon festival in Ukraine, people are silhouetted while the balloon towers upwards. The balloon’s colour matches the sky perfectly but retains enough detail to stand out. The fact that there's no other backdrop behind the people and balloon is what really makes this a stand-out shot.
The cremation ceremonies in Varanasi is a difficult subject to come to grips with, but the photographer captures a poignant chronological order in this scene, with bodies burning in the background. The line of bodies draw the eye in to the frame, while the fabric on the person's head is shadowed from view.

After intense rain storms seemingly ruin a planned sunset shoot, the photographer finds themselves capturing this fantastic double rainbow in a brief dry spell. As the sun shines on the rocks in the horizon they are cradled above with a gorgeous spectrum of colour twinned above and virga clouds pervading the centre of the frame.

This sunrise shot makes good use of mist on the water, which suggests great depth between the horses, their riders and the backdrop. Small splashes from horse hooves in the water suggest motion by the horses. Subdued tones of blue and purple illicit an early morning, and lack of detail in the foreground and background help keep focus on the horses.
