I love the feeling of freshness that this image exudes, with a selection of tomatoes looking ripe to be picked. Focus is good, highlighting just a couple of fruits to be in sharp focus and the rest falling increasingly into soft focus in the distance. Great colour contrasts between the red and the green really makes the image pop. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.

A simple composition with a wire basket of tomatoes central in the frame, but the quality of the light made this image stand out. By using precise focussing methods has allowed ths entire subject to be in sharp focus, with the background and foreground rendered out of focus, making the subject stand out further. I love the inclusion of the little cucumbers in the setup, as they look naturally placed but provide some wonderful colour contrast between the red and the green. Congratulations on your winning image.

A deliciously tempting display of a variety of tomatoes on this market stall. Taking photos in a market and in similar settings usually means there is little time available to plan and execute the shot, generally just one shot with the set-up as found, and move on. You have done well though, to capture an image in lovely light and managed to keep everything looking fresh and natural. Well done on your top ten placing.

A great close-up shot of some large tasty-looking tomatoes. The shallow depth of field created by the use of a wide aperture has allowed the main foreground subject to be in focus and dominating the composition, with the tomotoes in the background nicely out of focus, but still recognisable and not a distracting blur. Lighting is lovely and looks to be natural, forming good highlight areas on the tomatoes to enhance the look of freshness. Colours are great too, with contrasting greens, oranges and reds. Congratulations on your second place finish.

A nicely considered still life composition, with everything in the setup having a place and nothing incongruous added in. There is good balance to the composition, and the lighting and post-processing is lovely, casting a gentle glow across the subjects. The splashes of red and green work well against the otherwise darker brown tones, and there are plenty of little details, such as the peas, to hold the viewers attention. Congratulations on your third place finish.

In this contest I would like to see your photos of one or more raw, uncooked tomatoes. The tomatoes can be whole or sliced etc, but must be uncooked. Images could show the tomatoes alone, with other items in a still-life composition, still growing, being sold or prepared in a cold dish such as a salad. The tomatoes should be the focal point of your image. Photos can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to seeing your entries.
