What a charming picture. We love the tonality of this shot -it almost appears painterly - and how it captures a fleeting moment of city life. It's a well seen composition and nicely photographed, effectively conveying the atmosphere of the location, combining elements of street and architectural photography. Congratulations!
This building is quite a structure and it has been expertly captured here! While a simple composition overall it works perfectly to render the smooth, modern lines of the building. The lone figure of the girl adds some much needed scale and gives the shot an almost fine-art style. A lovely, airy image which combines elements of street and architectural photography, filling our brief on all accounts!
It's rare that isolated colour works in a black and white shot (otherwise known as Colour Splash) but in this case it successfully adds to the effect of this scene. The concrete buildings look as if they are naturally low in colour impact, so it makes sense to render these in monochrome, but the high contrast of the orange almost makes the human figures appear like insects basking on a wall. An intriguing composition.
It's very rare that a photographer appears in our top three twice in the same round! There is definitely a story behind this image and the feeling of isolation is tangible. The composition is well thought out to tell this compelling narrative of contrasts or fortune, which is pushed by the contrasting cool and warm colours. The central placement of the figure works well in this context and adds to the strong perspective. Nicely done!
