Urban rivers and canals often provide an escape from the busy streets, but they are often important thoroughfares in their own right, teeming with leisure, tourist and commercial boats and ships. All this activity provides plenty of scope for different kinds of images, from those that concentrate on shapes and textures, to more documentary style shots that set the life of the river against an urban backdrop.
