Wars and Their Aftermath

May 2022

Another powerful image that as soon as you see it makes you just stop and take in what is happening within the frame. The B/W edit is perfect for this shot, it adds interest that I feel would be lost if it was a colour image

The face of the gentleman who is sat down just moves you, then the rest of the group also paying their respects just adds to the scene, another image that as soon as I saw it I knew it was going in my top 10

This was another image that just stopped me while scrolling through, you get a sense of the place in the image and the tower over looking at the site makes you realise how horrific the sites actually were. Well done on the edit for the shot, I think it makes it work better.

I really like the flow, detail and colour in this image. It all works and you have framed it really well. The way the light is catching on the poppies is amazing. I bet this would look amazing as a print.

An ever-present feature of our world are the wars that affect so many countries. War photography is probably the most dangerous genre of photography that there is, and many photographers have lost their lives in war zones. Images of active conflict are hard-won by those on the frontline. Often equally powerful are images documenting the effects of wars, whilst they are being fought, and in their aftermath. The physical scars on the landscapes and the people, and the emotional and psychological effects that can last a lot longer.

WOW, what an image, I can imagine you must have felt honoured to have taken this gentleman's photo. Very powerful in every aspect, from the eye contact to the editing there is nothing else to say other than amazing. Well done

As soon as I saw this shot I knew it was doing in my top 10, so powerful and all the elements in the image work well. In the shot you can feel what the location is about and that is what makes it so powerful

This is a very well taken image and WOW the detail in the shot is just stunning. Top marks for the composition and use of light as well, that works well, plus that sky just adds yet another dynamic to the whole image as well

A powerful image that works so well, looking at it makes you think about how harsh the winters must have been during WW2. I really appreciate a well-taken monument image and this is well up there with the best of them.

I find this image fascinating and I would like to know more about it. The focus is pin-sharp and all the details you want to be right are, the colour, the balance and most importantly the framing as a whole. Really well done

A reminder of the scars that war can leave behind. people going about what looks like their day to day business while there is still so much destruction around them. This is such a well-framed shot that is detail-rich, well done.

I love this image, with the contrast of the white gravestones against everything else it just makes them stand out and you can't help but notice how many there are. The light really has helped to make this image stand out

This image is really clean, I like how good you have got the focus on it and also the light and sky with the clouds are really working in your favour. The only thing I would have changed is cloning out the bit of rubbish in the centre of the frame on the grass.

What a powerful image, the rows just go on and on and you can't help but feel sad at how many graves there are in the image. I feel the image could do with a little bit of a shadow lift to try and get the trees from being a darker black band across the image, but other than that I really like how you have shot this.

I liked how different this image was compared to everything else that was submitted, there is a story within the image and you have done that amazingly. Keep up the amazing work and very well done for being creative and doing it well
