I am really loving this image, as the photographer has managed to really capture perfectly the energy of the moment!
There is such a shower of rice from the guest that the bride actually has to turn her back to it and the photographers clever use of high contrast has accentuated the rice so you can really see how dense the shower of rice is. This has to be one of the best confetti/rice shots I have seen.
For me, all the best wedding images tell a story of emotion with the use of intelligent composition, natural light and just the correct amount of post-production and this image nails it!
The photographers clever use of a short DOF while using the door way for framing, draws your eye directly to the church, which is pin sharp and high on the hill while at the same time the groom looks wistfully on, contemplating that soon he will be there, going through possibly one of the most important moments in his life.
The grooms stance looks relaxed, but I like to think there are many mixed emotions running deeply through him at this particular frozen moment.
The use of a matte black & white was the perfect choice and is very on trend with wedding photography.
I absolutely love everything about this shot and a well-deserved winner in my eyes.
I love this image for its simplicity and its elegance, but I also know how complex and difficult it is to control the right amount of light for this type of shot, especially in the short amount of time wedding photographers usually get. The photographer has done very well to get a perfect edge around the subjects without spilling the light and the clever use of the curving wall in the back ground allows the eye to move seamlessly from the couple to the bouquet.

Wedding photography is a large and lucrative market, all centred around a few intense hours of celebration and joy. But it's not all one big party – professionals can spend years honing their craft and learning to juggle the many dynamics and personalities they come into contact with on the day. The stakes are high but so are the rewards! Good luck.
This is a classic example of a photographer making the best of difficult situation. Its winter and its cold and the bride is only in her dress, so you only have a few minutes to get the shot before she freezes, so the photographer did well to get what they did. Though I think it would have made for a much stronger image if the assistant adjusting the dress had jumped out the way, leaving just the bride & groom and the mad swimmer in the shot. To me, the assistant is a distraction to the whole composition. I love the soft muted brown and red tones of the trees in the background, which then flow down into the waters reflection and which compliments the wooden wharf in the foreground.
I really like how the photographer has captured this rather unusual and relaxed moment in the day of bride. Its framed and exposed well and the soft lighting works well with the muted colours.
I do however find the very large man with the backpack on the right of the frame, a very annoying distraction to the whole image and stopped me from awarding a commendation for this picture.
I fully understand that it’s impossible to control the general public in these situations, but if I was the photographer and these were my clients, then I would have just asked the couple to wait until the scene was clear or I would have tried to reframe the image, so the couple was the most important element in the picture. Maybe getting much lower to the ground and shooting in portrait format might have worked better.
