We’ve all heard horror stories where wedding guests have crowded the aisle with their smartphones and obscured the wedding photographer’s shot. Thankfully, everyone’s being very well behaved here. This image is perfectly centered and captures the groom’s smile as he looks at the bride. Perhaps most impressive though is the natural light pouring through the windows and highlighting the bride’s white dress.
Online platforms have arguably increased what’s expected of wedding photographers. Social media-savvy couples are asking for increasingly creative photographs to share online and light painting is a popular choice. This fantastic image paired a long exposure with an LED light stick to silhouette the happy couple. Flash was used to illuminate the bride’s red dress, adding a dash of vibrant colour.
A lone bride runs through the haunting Victorian gothic architecture of Margam Castle. She was asked to twirl her dress so it lifted off the steps, while a high ISO allowed a fast enough shutter speed to freeze the naturally lit scene. We particularly love the use of a 16mm fisheye lens and how the distortion crams in the 19th century interior, emphasising its imposing scale.

We picked this black-and-white street-style shot for its charming narrative – not all wedding photos have to be perfectly lit and staged. We’re sure the bride and groom won’t forget gatecrashing this card game on their wedding day, and now the memory is immortalized. Images like this remind us that, at its core, wedding photography is about documenting a special day.
