Wild Landscape - 25 and under

The black and white treatment had been used to good effect in this striking scene. The photographer has done well to handle the tricky lighting. Shooting into the sun can be a technical challenge, however, overall effect of the 'contre jour' approach when handled well can transform a scene into the sublime. Here we see an image packed with atmosphere and depth but one that has also captured the mystery of the desert.

This amazing vista has an epic impact and is loaded with drama and mood. The photographer has done well to capture the fleeting moment of light as it strikes the distant rock face through the fast-changing weather conditions. This light really holds the image together and creates a wonderful sense of depth and interest. The moody dark tones in the shadow areas have been handled well, with just enough detail for the viewer to enjoy. All in all a lovely image!

This was clearly a technically very challenging image to capture. The multiple exposures needed to create the final piece would have taken painstaking patience and tenacity to pull off. And to do this at the top of a mountain is commendable. The 'selfie' must have also been tricky to orchestrate. The 'human presence' the figure creates is helpful in giving a sense of scale and awe against the epic backdrop.

This is a lovely image that is very calming and tranquil. The slow shutter speed simply melts the water into this silky smooth ribbon. The composition is good however it could be improved if it had just a little more space at the top of the frame, and a little less foreground as this is quite dominant. Otherwise great work.

There is so much power and energy in this wild landscape entry! The inclusion of the figure in the scene helps to give a sense of scale. The final processing effect works well with the photographer bringing out cool blue tones in the rocks and some richer reds. The yellow moss and plant contrasts well against these also.
