I really like the idea behind this image. It's simple and that's what gives it so much strength. I love the way the light comes in, where you can still slightly see the source in the upper left corner.

The colours are very warm and delicate and so is the light. Great photo!

This looks like a simple shot, but I just love everything about it! The light is fantastic, the pose is great. I love the composition where you can slightly see there's more than one of these buffalo's.

The focus is just simply perfect, with a little extra detail in the flies.

This picture really deserves to win this challenge!

I love simple images like this one. Lots of empty space and then suddenly this owl, so well in focus.

The background almost looks like it's painted!

And the pose the owl is giving us, is great. Straight into the sun so the eyes pop out bright and clear.

Well done!

Love the colours, love the silver (golden!) lining. Love the pose!

This is a very nice image for sure. The reason I didn't put it in my top 10 is that I'm not too fond about the composition. It's all straight in the middle: the horizon is and the elephant is. I would have loved to give the elephant a bit more space to walk, so give it more space on the left and put it a bit more in the right part of the photo.

But all together: great shot!

What I really like about this image is that it's giving you questions. This lion... what is she thinking, what does she look at? Is she looking at us, or is there something behind is that's way more interesting?

I really like the symmetry and the colours as well. It's a simple image, as in: just a lioness and grass, but there's so much about it!

Another image that really raises questions. What's that tongue doing? Where is this one going? What is he or she looking at?

One thing is clear: we're not interesting at all.

I love the colours, the composition and the way the light is striking her eye. Great photograph!

Meet the judge

The low angle in this photograph is what immediately caught my eye. It makes you really being pulled into this tiger's world.

The light is fantastic and the pose is elegant. Also the movement is very visible, which I really like!

Great shot!

Show me your colour photos of wildlife photographed in the wonderful light of sunrise or sunset. Please no captive animals, zoo, farm or pet animals; only wild animals. Sunrise and sunset is a popular time for photography, with images with wildlife in them making the shot even more special, so I am looking forward to seeing your photos.
