Yellow and Orange

This photography really did burst onto my screen shouting YELLOW! A fabulous shot and great example of how a close up can still precisely tell you the whole subject. Great angle, and use of the rest of the daffodil to fill the frame with yellow. Superb work, and one to be proud of.

An incredible bit of macro work here! The detail is just amazing, and really did scream orange in both colour and subject - an instantly mouth watering photo that could not be ignored and whilst I was shortlisting just climbed and climbed the list :). Fantastic work, effort and skill.

THere is so much to like about this photo! The soft light, the composition, the colours and meeting the brief so perfectly. Congratulations on creating an image that is a delight to look at and take in. Backlighting the fruit really gave it an edge (literally) and the balance of the overall colour space was spot on. Fabulous work!

This is just one of those shots you see where the selection of specific lines and shapes makes for an instantly recognisable car without revealing it. Fabulous control of light on a difficult colour, even picking up the metallic specs and tones across the panels. ORANGE galore!! Brilliant image and a superb entry into this competition.

Just wanted to take the time to give this a quick review despite just being pipped to my top ten. It really is an incredible shot and fabulously composed and balanced to ensure all the light and colour is kept. I'm sure this image will do really well in many other comps so keep submitting it :)

Hello Yellow indeed! Loved the whole concept here, that you'd truly thought about the challenge and met the challenge with an image that shouts YELLOW! A fabulously unique image that's simple too, was great to see something different and away from the obvious choice of flowers.

This reminded me more of a fire the way the hot embers at the bottom producing roaring flames reaching upwards. A great composition and crop to create a full frame of colour and textures from the sunflower., which I think is what made the difference from the many other sunflower shots entered. Superb entry and a well deserved top ten finish.

Yes, I love this! Totally different and absolutely meets the challenge head on. THe symmetry of the shot really makes it with everything working right down to the XOXO reflections of lights in the tiles behind. A truly fabulous shot, and one to be very proud of. THank you for entering it.

I really enjoyed this shot, because I see so many flower shots especially of this colour and they are always so often blown out on teh petals losing their texture. Yet here you have it in oodles! The detail is superb, and the edges of each petal standing out perfectly because of your chosen angle - something different and very well thought through. Fantastic work.

This is an incredible photo! I looked at this so long to work out just how this occurred to create such an amazing shot. I really um'd and ahh'd over this shot, it instantly grabbed me because of the composition, really filling the frame and the repeating symmetry of the petals made the shot but wasn't quite sharp. Nonetheless it still made my top ten and deservedly too because as I reviewed all the shots this still stood out a mile for the colours which is what this challenge was all about. It wasn't until writing this review that I realised it was shot on an iPhone, and a testament to the skill of the photographer behind the lens and not the expensive camera in their hand. Great work!

Yes! I loved the different approach to this shot, creating a superb macro shot of the petals emphasised even further by the water drops. The detail is superb on such a small DOF, which gives the feeling of knowing what the whole flower is like without seeing it all. Congratulations on taking an image of a subject that's so frequently photographed and making it very different and unique! This is creativity!

I just wanted to take the time to write a review on your photo for this competition because I thought it was just wonderful in its own right. Just pipped to the top ten by some equally amazing shots that just shouted the colours of yellow and orange that little bit more. However, I wanted you to know that this image was superb and gave me great pleasure to look at and I'm sure will do you proud in many other competitions. Keep on doing what youre doing as I love it. Hopefully after I've finished judging I will be able to look at who took the shots and be sure to follow so I can see more of your work.

Wow! Just an incredible macro image with unbelievable detail. There isn't a section that isn't sharp and must have taken some serious time and energy and if you ask me was totally worth it! Doesn't make me like them any more, but they certainly are one thing you would think of with the word yellow and the yellow background really worked. An amazing photo and a privilege to have seen.

Although an obvious flower, the colours and framing of the shot gave it much more a feeling of a late summer evening's sunset. Incredible colours and good choice of positioning within the frame. You can't get much more orange than this!

An incredibly detailed shot and just love the way nature has created that swirl in the middle. I loved the vividness of the yellow overall making this pop off the screen, and you kept that colour well balanced without losing the detail by blowing out the highlights. Fantastic shot and a real brightener to anyone's day who would see this photo. :)
