Not everyone agrees to keeping wild animals behind a cage in a zoo and this image to me is quite a powerful and sad at the same time, the photographer as captured a caged primate holding the bars and i think the framing is perfect the image speaks volumes without the need of seeing all the animal. A thought provoking photograph

One of my favourite images, my first thought that this was photographed in a nature reserve of a charging elephant then after reading it was taken in its enclosure in a zoo i thought wow the photographer as created something special by using the settings he used to get the finished image, its an image i would have been proud of, very well done to the photography

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 251 and 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.** Giving us an up-close opportunity to photograph a wide variety of exotic and interesting animals, zoos and safari parks are a great place to spend time with your camera, and don’t require super-long lenses to get intimate shots. There can be questions over the ethicality of poorly run and financed zoos and safari parks, but when done well they are great for education, and often have important breeding programs for endangered species. Any zoo and safari park animal images are welcome in the contest, as are images of zoos and safari parks more broadly, that may not even have animals in the picture.
