Born in 1938, I got the first taste of photography with Russian rangefinder Kiev (with a good piece of 50 mm f/2 glass) which I bought there in 1963 and learnt to develop and print in black and white. I also used colour diapositives, pocket permitting. Making my own BW prints continued till 1989 when I switched to colour negatives and bought in West Germany a decent SLR Canon A1 with prime 50mm f/1.4 and 2 zooms 24-70 & 80-200mm, later adding close-up rings. My first digital was Fujifilm Finepix S9000 in 2006 in USA, an all-in-one camera with a good zoom range but a small sensor. Low light pictures were grainy. In 2013 I got a better one, Fujifilm Finepix HS50EXR, with 24-1000mm zoom range and better picture quality, but still a small sensor. Above age 70, carrying backpack is a problem, so I opted for such all in-ones. I am carrying on the hobby to the extent possible at this age. I have learnt quite a lot after joining Photocrowd and added Olympus micro four-third E-M5 Mark II with 12-40 mm f/2.8 Zuiko lens in Dec 2019. Recent addition in late 2022 is Olympus MFT camera body OM-1, lens 40-150 mm f/4 and macro 60 mm f/2.8
