I worked at the Exhibition of Photography at the San Diego County Fair for seven years, three as coordinator of the exhibit, among the largest in the western United States. But my interest in photography began way back in college when I took black-and-white photo classes as a journalism student at Cal Poly Pomona. My education led to a 31-year career as a newspaperman, beginning as a reporter and photographer at weekly papers in Southern California and morphing into jobs as a page designer at local weeklies and dailies, then as Night Editor at the San Diego Union-Tribune. Now retired, I spend a lot of my time at local parks and beaches looking for images of wildlife and watersports, in urban areas seeking street and architecture shots, or traveling in search of more exotic photos. I live in Encinitas, California with my wife of 31 years, Edie. Our kids are both grown.
