I have been interested in photography since I got my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic with 126 film, back in 1972. It seems unbelievable now, but the only settings it had which could be adjusted was to twist the lens to move from sunny to cloudy (presumably opening up the aperture slightly to let more light onto the ISO 100 black and white film it came supplied with in the presentation pack. Over the years I went through a host of cameras, but until the advent of digital cameras I had viewed photography as only being used on high days and holidays. Currently I use mainly Nikon DSLRs (D90 being the oldest through a D7000 to a D610 which I got last year) although I do use a P7800 and a nice Panasonic LX7. I have no particular favourite genre of image as you will see from my portfolio. Last year I passed the lineside safety course on the Bluebell Heritage railway so I have been getting some close images of their trains recently. Also I have an interest in aviation and musicals/theatre hence some pictures in my portfolio. I am a great fan of Les Miserables and having completed 25 years have amassed more than 500 performances! My philosophy is to try everything. Mind you is does get a little expensive as it means purchasing a range of lenses, flash guns, filters and so forth. My next purchase (once I find fulltime employment again) will be a set of Lee filters as my D610 is showing the weaknesses of my existing Cokin set.
