vassilios Siagkos

My name is Vasilios Siagkos. I come from Greece, and, more specifically, from a small town called Aridaia. Aridaia is located in the central part of North Greece called Macedonia. I was born on July 13, 1985 in Edessa and I have spent my entire childhood,adolescence and some following years in Aridaia. In the summer of 2007, after having accomplished my military duties serving the Hellenic Air Force, my parents persuaded me to go to university and join the Faculty of Education in Belgrade. My first influence comes from the photo exhibition of my dear friend Spiros Paloukis (writer- photographer / http://www.spyrospaloukis.com/) whom I met during military service. A second impulse came from another dear friend Sonia Theodoridou(http://www.behance.net/sonix)-whom I met in Belgrade during August of 2009- and my first contact with her Nikon camera. This last one made me take photography more seriously, so, I stopped taking mobile pictures and started thinking of buying my first camera. In July 2011, after surpassing many obstacles, mainly financial as well as a serious eye disease which threatened my sight, but made me even more motivated, I finally managed to buy my own Nikon. I also attended a photography course in Serbia by Milan Josipovic (https://www.behance.net/MilanJosipovic) & Miodrag Stojanovic (http://www.pixoto.com/drmstojanovic). I have been working as a photographer for the past 3 years and I have worked in many different fields such as wedding/baptism photography, product photography, promotional/advertising photography and as a street photographer for a local magazine in Belgrade. I have taken part in several competitions with or without success as I am always eager to improve my talent and highly motivated. I have also travelled a lot trying to gain more experience on taking photographs which is my passion.
