My name is Yulia Zyl. I am a photographer based in Málaga, Spain, originally from Siberia (born in 1983). I have a background in psychology, and in the past I worked as a singer, makeup artist, and hairdresser. Creativity has always been part of my life, taking different forms along the way. In 2019, after moving to Minsk, I unexpectedly found myself on the other side of the camera — first as a creative producer, and soon I realized that I wanted, and needed, to photograph myself. This idea gradually matured, and in 2021, after relocating to Spain, I began my journey in photography — in a new country and with a new profession. I completed a basic photography course as well as a course called The Physics of Light. In 2024, I won third place in the “Super Nova” contest, and in 2025 I took part in a workshop led by Magnum Photos street photographer Georgy Pinkhasov. My work "Life in Screen Reflection" was selected for the international competition BestPicture ArtWeek, and in July 2025 I presented my debut art project "When no one is watching " at a group exhibition in Düsseldorf. I draw inspiration from painting, cinema, classical literature, psychology, and real human stories. I love museums and continue to study art independently.
