This is in my top 10 because everytime I looked at it I thought something exciting was about to happen. The marbles look like they are about to spill over because the bowl can no longer contain them. Having the marbles in a glass bowl was a terrific choice. It gave me the feeling of knowing that if the marbles were going to topple out what I would see. Also, you see color, texture, distortion, different sizes based on the way the bowl is tilted. I was completely bowled over by this igzotic! Congratulation on making my top 10!

I love the experimentation feel in this. I'm glad that everything present in the image is a necessity. A bowl, whisk, yellow substance behind a white background. I was easily able to imagine this being done in a lab of some sort. Its fun to imagine what you were making. Yes...it is a storm. My mind kept pondering what you brewed together to get such a substance. It is a total mystery and really is the perfect storm! Congratulations on being in my top 10 Allan!

Chocolate never looked so tasty. The showering of chocolate powder was awesomw. With the powder I felt like you were just adding the final touches to your the dish and getting ready to serve it up to me. Next, I love how it shows the versatility of chocolate. Chocolate takes on the form of truffles, powder, bars. It also plays on some of the range of colors chocolate can take; from light brown to dark. The leaf wakes up the heaviness of the photo. Wonderful job! Congratulations David on making my top 10 for the second time in this contest!

The biggest thing that drew me to this picture is the vividness of the different elements in it. I am able to identify the veins in the leaf because the texture is present enough to do so. The berries are the main focus. They are nicely sized, aesthetically pleasing and the frost over various parts gives them added dimension. Everything else serves only to highlight the berries. The bowl itself then takes on incredible importance. A huge portion of it is smartly obscured. The only way you know there is a bowl present is because there are things in, and around it. Well done David! Congratulations on being the 3rd pick in my top 10!

This photo tells a story. There is preparation, ingredients and outcome. You are given both a start and a finish. It is essentially a photographic recipe, that I felt, if I want to, I could replicate. A soup dish that appears rustic. The simplicity of the ingredients and the suggestion that it is prepared on a wooden surface. Everything has a total down to earth atmosphere. Indeed, the only thing this photo can't do is tell me how the dish taste. However, if I went by how good everything went together in the photo, I dare to say it was probably very tasty. Congratulations FotoFantasia on making my top 10!

This picture came across to me as a immediate success. The only thing left for me to do was to breakdown why. The use of "light" ties every part of the photo together. Light is used to highlight the different colors of nuts in the bowl and wood and connects the two. The humor of using "nuts" in two way was very clever. They share the same name but are different in every other way. As far as the photo, the difference is the metal(nut) being heavy and the food(nut) being lite. This provides a unique balance between lite and heavy that works. Lastly, light is providing additional layers to the the metal nuts. The metal picks up light, shadow, reflection and even texture. Outstanding all the way around! Congratulations Lolam on being my #1 pick!

This contest is for your photos of a single bowl. You may present the bowl in any way you like. You can show any type of bowl such as one used to eat out of, one to hold different objects or a re-purposed bowl used in a way that is not common at all. Abstracts are allowed, however it must be clear that there is only one bowl in the photo. I hope you enjoy the contest.

Frantic fruit indeed! The title is what made me understand the intention of this photo. For me this is indicated most strongly by the hiding of the fruit in the bowl. It is underneath the bananas but you can't really tell. it It's the reflection of the different colors present on the perimeter of the bowl, that makes you aware this is the case. A flat abstract from above lets you know that the glass is falling towards the fruit. Superb composition on this 101 Visions! Congratulations on being in my top 10!

For this to be this simple but have so many things happening is why I love it. In this, its not what's happening in the bowl. Its about the bowl itself, and how the design of it is used in various ways. The entire bowl is comprised of "white" triangles that are void throughout. The shadow a is great balance to this. The textured ground, black triangle lines and the natural pull of the shadow works. Making the picture black and white keeps your eye concentrated on the two main focuses. I found my eye going back and forth from the bowl to its shadow. Nice job ludek and congratulation on making my top 10!
