Very nice image of the Dahlia Bloom here, and the lighting works really really well. I like the way that you have the stem of the flower coming in from a diagonal, rather than immediately under the image. It works really well and gives a nice feel to the shot. Focus is sharp throughout, and I can see why a f/32 was used. Well done on taking first place :-)

As with your other shot in the Top 10, this shot has great focus and lighting. I like the shape that you have achieved with the flower against the black BG. The stem in this shot is a bit strange and makes you do a double take. It is funny the way that nature is sometimes. well done on a great shot -)

I love the simplicity of this image, and the backlight gives us a great chance to see how the petals overlap, while still maintaining detail in them. I like the way that the stem anchors the flower in the shot, but it would also work well without this, cropping just below the flower for more of a brighter shot. Shapes are fantastic here and a pleasure to see. Well done -)

I like the way that you have moved the flower over to the right of the frame, leaving the left black. It is pleasing to the eye. I see that the flower is angled slightly leaning to the right, which makes it look like it is looking outside the frame. I would be interested to see if having the flower in the left and looking in made a huge difference? With a black BG, this could be a quick thing to do to trial. Love the reflections, giving something a little different to this shot. Well done on a great shot :-)

Well I did ask for something different, and this is definitely a different angle for a flower shot. I like the way that the BG is natural as well and you have not opted for a black or white BG. Water on the back of the petals adds nicely to this shot. Nice focus and nice conversion, keeping just shy of complete black or white colours. Well done :-)

Absolutely love the way that the petals look like they are like water flowing down from the stamen. Lighting and focus is spot on with this shot. The conversion to Black & White is great against the black BG. The angled stem adds to this shot as well, rather than just straight up. Well done on a great shot -)

Well i did say that I wanted something different in this competition, and this image definitely does that. I would love to know a little bit more behind how this was achieved, as it is a very striking shot. Black and white works well here, and the light that you have on the flower and the the "explosion" is very good. Well done on a great shot :-)
